The stand located on London Road and forming part of the London Road Carnival will welcome residents, businesses and local community groups of Broad Green and provide an opportunity to meet members of the Croydon Partnership team, find out more about the over £1billion investment into the town centre, and answer any questions about the re-development.
The event is the latest in a series of rolling community drop-in sessions which will take place across Croydon’s 23 wards over the coming months. The first event was hosted for the Fairfield ward at Centrale shopping centre in July 2014, and successful events have followed for local communities in the South Norwood, Woodside, Bensham Manor and West Thornton and Waddon and Croham wards.
The roadshow forms a central part of the “Partners in the Town” component of the Croydon Partnership’s Community Plan, which aims to ensure regular dialogue with residents, local businesses and community groups across Croydon as the scheme progresses.
Joining the Croydon Partnership at the event will be representatives from Croydon Police, who are working closely alongside the Partnership as part of the redevelopment plans to help make the town centre a safer place to work and visit, through the Safer Croydon Partnership.
Carolyn Kenney, Project Director Retail Development for Hammerson, added: “Events such as the London Road Carnival are a great way for us to support the community, meet local residents and discuss our plans for the redevelopment of Croydon’s retail town centre. We recently manned a stall at the South End Food Festival and we were very pleased with the level of interest and number of visitors it attracted. We very much look forward to taking part in the London Road Carnival and hope to see as many people as possible on the day.”
Further community roadshow dates will be announced in due course.
